Paris is a city that deserves a lifetime, but if you only have one day, it’s still possible to experience some of its most iconic landmarks and a bit of its charm.
This itinerary is based on my own recent experience and is designed to help you make the most of your time in the City of Light.
Morning: Start at the Louvre
The day begins with a visit to the Louvre, one of the world’s most famous museums and home to the iconic Mona Lisa.
If you want to see her up close and before the crowds, here’s the trick:
- Get a ticket online for the 9:00 AM slot.
- Arrive at 8:00 AM to get in line.
I did this a few weeks ago, and it was one of the best decisions I made.
I had the chance to enjoy the Mona Lisa with only a few people around me, soaking in the experience.
By 9:30, the room was packed, and by 10:00, the line outside had grown to a two-hour wait.
Breakfast: Le Ju’
After exploring the Louvre, you’ll need to refuel. Head over to Le Ju’, a brunch spot not far from the museum.
They serve delicious croissants, coffee, and brunch options in a cozy space.
The colorful umbrellas outside and the chic interior make it a perfect photo spot.
It’s also highly rated and offers a nice vibe whether you sit inside or enjoy the street view.
Mid-Morning: Stroll Through History
Paris is wonderfully walkable, so take a leisurely stroll along the Seine.
Cross the Pont au Change, and you’ll find yourself on a little island in the river with some of Paris’s most stunning landmarks:
- Sainte-Chapelle: Peek inside at the breathtaking stained glass windows, which are a masterpiece of Gothic architecture.
- Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris: While still undergoing restoration, this iconic cathedral is worth visiting for its historical significance and stunning façade.
From there, make your way to Jardin du Luxembourg, often called the most beautiful park in Paris.
Stroll through the manicured gardens, admire the statues, and soak in the peaceful atmosphere. It’s a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the Parisian vibe.
Lunch: A Taste of Parisian Cuisine
For lunch, you have two excellent options depending on your mood:
- La Coupole: If you’re craving something upscale and classically French, this iconic brasserie is perfect.
- Verse Toujours: For a more casual experience with a mix of French and American-style options, this spot offers great food and a relaxed atmosphere.
Afternoon: Eiffel Tower
No trip to Paris is complete without a visit to the Eiffel Tower. After lunch, take a 20–30 minute cab ride to this iconic landmark.
Walk around the base to soak in its grandeur, or pay admission to go up and enjoy breathtaking views of the city.
Whether you choose to ascend or not, the Eiffel Tower is a must-see that never disappoints.
Evening: Dinner by the Seine
For dinner, just a short walk from the Eiffel Tower is Francette, an upscale restaurant located right on the Seine.
The food is excellent, and the views of the Eiffel Tower make it the perfect spot for an unforgettable meal.
Nightcap: Cocktails with a View
End your day with cocktails at La Botaniste, a sophisticated bar located across the Seine in a beautiful hotel.
The atmosphere is stunning, with upscale drinks that are perfect for a celebratory nightcap.
Take some time to look around the hotel and enjoy the elegant ambiance.
One day in Paris may seem short, but with this itinerary, you’ll capture a mix of art, history, culture, and culinary delights.
Plan ahead, stay flexible, and savor every moment. After all, Paris has a way of leaving its magic with you, no matter how long you stay.
